For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 2 Chronicles 16:9
Any time the Holy Spirit gives us specific information about God’s behavior and character, it would behoove us to take note! Here, we see that God wants to do for us when our hearts are completely surrendered to Him. So, first, let’s look at what it means for our hearts to be completely His in trust.
What Happens When We Trust God?
In the context of 2 Chronicles 16, it meant that King Asa was strongly supported by God when he chose to trust in God for deliverance from the Ethiopians and the Lubim instead of his own hand, his own wisdom, and his own ability. When Asa trusted in the power of man or in his own efforts and wisdom to save him from the king of Aram, he was thwarted and failed.
At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the Lord your God, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand. Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim an immense army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the Lord, He delivered them into your hand. 2 Chron. 16:7-8
God is actively searching our hearts, looking for someone to strongly support because our heart is trusting in Him and His efforts, His strength, His wisdom, and not our own. He actually wants us to succeed. He actually wants us to be blessed and have all of our needs met, but that only comes through relying on, trusting in, fully confident in God. That means we are going to wait for His guidance, His reply to our prayers.
Trusting in God Pleases Him
We aren’t going to dream up 101 ways to get ourselves out of the mess we are in. We are going to rest in His goodness, trust in His faithfulness. This so pleases God, that he is actively looking for those people that do it and will STRONGLY support them. Anything God does strongly will be impressive! Be impressive! Trust God with abandon! Trust in His good character and love for you! That shows that you really do know Him and His goodness. You may not know what to do, but He does. Trust Him to lead you as you walk out this life. You won’t be disappointed.
